The First Beijing International Friendly Chambers of Commerce Conference Held in Beijing

On 15 September, the first Beijing International Friendly Chambers of Commerce Conference was held in Beijing. International organizations such as the International Chamber of Commerce(ICC), 45 chambers of commerce or heads of institutions from 25 countries and regions such as the United States, France, Germany, Brazil, and Russia etc, and 500 strong enterprise representatives attended the meeting. Mr. LIU Qi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Secretary of Beijing Municipal CPC Committee, met with some overseas chairmen of chamber of commerce. Chairman of China Chamber of International Commerce Mr. WAN Jifei attended the opening ceremony and met with distinguished overseas guests. Ms. CHENG Hong, deputy Mayor of the city of Beijing, ICC World Chambers Federation vice chairman Mustafa Mansur, vice chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris (CCIP) attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

The First Beijing International Friendly Chamber of Commerce Conference themed on “cooperation, development and win-win.” It focuses on discussions of how the chamber of commerce can best play its comprehensive foreground role in international business activities under the big economic globalization picture and in process of Beijing’s aspiration of building itself into a world city with Chinese characteristics; how the chamber of commerce can aggregate its resources, exert its synergy and servicing enterprises with new strategy and novel new approaches.

Participants shared their opinions on Synergy of Chamber of Commerce under Economic Globalization, Role of Chamber of Commerce in City’s Economic and Social Development, and Business and Cooperation Opportunities in course with Beijing’s emerging into a world city with Chinese characteristics. During the meeting, chairmen of overseas chamber of commerce co-signed the Beijing Cooperation Consensus, highlighting further cooperation on seven such aspects as common development, information sharing and rights protection etc in between chambers of commerce. The Beijing Chamber of International Commerce signed cooperative agreement with nine chambers of commerce, namely, the Amman Chamber of Commerce (Jordan), International Chamber of Commerce of Nord-Pas de Calais of France, Business Service and Facility Management Club of the United Arab Emirates, Bucharest Chamber of Commerce of Romania, the Oslo Chamber of Commerce (OCC) of Norway, Geneva Chamber of Commerce, CHICIT, and Hong Kong Chinese Industry & Commerce Association (HKCICA). The agreements signed lay a solid foundation for long term friendly cooperation with overseas chambers of commerce.

Beijing International Conference of Friendly Chambers of Commerce has become another new platform for the city of Beijing to conduct outbound economic and trade exchanges and cooperation. The conference will he convened every two years.
