About The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd

The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. (“BTMU”), a member of the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (“MUFG”), is Japan's largest multinational commercial bank. As one of the leading comprehensive financial groups in the world, MUFG possesses entities handling businesses with trusts, securities, credit cards, leasing and consumer finance, and wide networks covering Europe, America and Asian-Pacific.

The relationship between China and MUFG witnessed the history of friendship between China and Japan as closed neighbors separated only by a strip of water. At the end of 1950s, BTMU signed Japanese Yen/RMB settlement agreement with Bank of China, representing a start of financial cooperation between the two countries. Since the Chinese Economic Reform, BTMU has set up a number of branches and representative offices in Beijing, Shanghai etc., to support development of local economy and the opening up of China’s financial market. BTMU is now in the leading position among not only Japanese banks, but also foreign banks in China.

In 2007, to respond to the call for foreign banks’ locally incorporation by authorities, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (China) (“BTMU (China)”) was established as a locally incorporated bank in China, with a head office set up in Shanghai. Since then, BTMU’s Chinese business has achieved great growth. Presently, BTMU (China) is in possession of 13 branches (Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Dalian, Tianjin, Wuxi, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Qingdao, Wuhan, Shenyang, Suzhou and Fuzhou) and 6 sub-branches (Dalian Economic and Technological Development Area, Tianjin Binhai, Guangzhou Nansha, Shanghai hongqiao, Beijing Economic and Technological Area and Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone Sub-Branch), with over 2,500 staff members working in China. BTMUC is ranked by its total assets as the largest Japanese bank and one of the top foreign banks in China.

Since 1999, when the President(Chairman) of BTMU started to serve on the International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Beijing, bank’s top managers have attached great importance to and actively participated in the activities. Through consultation meetings, BTMU has shared its vast experience on financial services, and put forward many valuable recommendations concerning Beijing’s development.
